Be the Change✌🏼️

One thing that I see natives doing a lot is throwing waste out their car window.

Driving around the Island one notices these waste everywhere.

Polluting the environment, as destroying the eco-systems.

Growing up this knowledge was not brought to most of us.

It was seen that it is normal to throw a plastic cup or a plastic bag out the car window.

But what change can be done about this ?

Sharing Awareness and Clean Nature !

So what is actually waste ?

Waste, or rubbish, trash, junk, garbage, is an unwanted or undesired material or substance.

So why is waste bad for the environment?

Waste contains materials that aren’t easily discompose, like plastic or crystal, and the product of this materials in a junkyard along with high temperatures can create dangerous chemicals and contaminate the soil and water resources.

Waste can be regarded as a human concept as there appears to be no such thing as waste in nature.

Throwing waste in nature is highly destructive for the environment.

As valuable resources in the form of matter and energy are lost during waste disposal, requiring a greater burden on the ecosystems to provide these.

The presence of waste can also be an indication of overconsumption and that materials are not being used efficiently.

So what can be done ?

Some sustainable approaches are clearly needed such as:

Waste minimization is an approach that aims to reduce the production of waste through education and the adoption of improved production processes and less wasteful practices.

Recycling, by separating certain materials within the waste stream and reprocessing them.

Waste processing is treatment and recovery (use) of materials or energy from waste through thermal, chemical, or biological means.

Be the Change.
